This current issue’s core is my visit to Japan’s Hokkaido wineries. Months later the place still haunts. As my career stretches into the future, I am increasingly attracted to origin wine stories; regions and people working towards something new or old but driven by passion. Some like Chile and Georgia are reclaiming their rights to the vine. Other regions, like Japan, are pinning their culture onto a new future, creating to-be-discovered paths.
