Field Notes: April 8, 2022

“I’ve just been released from federal prison after doing 4 years for arson.”

That was an email I received a few weeks back and it hadn’t left my mind. Of course I was ready for the next lines, the “I was mugged I need money” scam letter. But then I read the next sentences.

“Here’s a short summary of my long story about my newfound passion for wine.”

It was legitimate after all.
